Pretty in Pink – a life drawing in watercolour inks

I work in a studio every week drawing from life models. The practice of drawing is essential – and life drawing is (I think) the hardest discipline of all. I love using liquid watercolours for their bright, intense colour and the effect of colours washing into each other.

Here I've painted the pink background first, before drawing over the top in shades of blue – the original colours merge into other colours – so purples, reds and browns appear – and I let the liquid colours run across the paper – an effect I love. See 'Pretty in Pink' and other life drawing ink originals on the website.
